Let's run it, PnP brought up the idea and I think it is a great idea. But it needs to be a true Rookie tournament, no titles of any kind and preferably say less than $500,000 in earnings.
Who can run it? I suck at running private regions. If we do run it though I would like a side best of three with PnP, just because we do not get to fight one another any more since we both left Rookies.

I really like this idea, and I'll do whatever you guys want to help you run it.
One point though: every tournament needs a prize. I'd offer up a high-status regional fighter but I don't have any. I would be willing to make some 0(0) fighters and send a couple of fight plans that I have used before though.

I'll run it, gladly.
The prize?
How about an 18(18) Contender?

I think the fight plans would be more help to a new gym than a contender, you'll get the guys killed and end their rookie eligibility, which if they win this tournament that is probably a good idea heh.
Fight plans, some 0/0 fighters made for them by better gyms, and perhaps a mentor to guide them through their path.

Hm.
Fight plans really aren't all that useful, though, unless tailored. A fight plan in the hands of someone who doesn't understand it isn't any less ineffective than a fighter they don't know how to use.
I'd be happy to offer a 'mentorship', and a few 0(0) or higher fighters, though, no doubt. I'm sure I could get a few UV guys to chip in on mentoring too, if need be.

Maybe we could have a more experienced gym to help them in the tourney. Not build their fighter and write their fight plan help, but a gym to bounce ideas off of and give them advice in the tourney. (i.e. since your opponent is taller you might try inside or clinch). Just a thought.

PnP, that might be a good idea, have experienced gyms sponsor the competitors, talk them through their match-ups and help them learn how to scout and FP.
If we limit the competitors to say 8 I am sure we can get 8 people to help mentor them through the tournament.
We'd have to make it a double elimination in order to do that or make it single elimination but the fights be best of three.

Let me put out a call to UV, and get some more of them over here.
Perhaps we can get more than 8 -- no reason to shun anyone from getting help!

Well, I wasn't sure how many managers I could get to help mentor the rookies through the tournament.....

Wasn't the WeBL welcoming crew made exactly for situations like this?
Anyway, I'm willing to help.

The Welcoming crew isn't functional yet.
Soon, though, soon. Spoke to Mortons about it today, he's been having some real life issues and hasn't had the time to get it fully active. As of current, though, this wouldn't necessarily be the purpose of it -- more, to contact new managers and get them acquainted with the game a bit. It can be awfully intimidating early on, and thus, the Welcoming crew is there to take away that initial scare -- and hopefully, help retain people by explaining things.

I also spoke to some of the guys at Evil Empire about helping mentor some in the tournament, I am sure some of them will come on board as well. We should perhaps post a thread to gauge interest, let them know what we are considering and try to recruit other managers to help in the mentoring phase.

Getting mentor help won't be an issue, most likely, between UV and EE alone. If need be, there's a few guys outside of the clans that would probably lend a hand as well. I'm more concerned about how many 'true' rookies can be brought together. Perhaps best to find out how many are needed first -- if the rookies were easily reached, I think this forum would be a bit busier

I'll make a thread gauging interest and then determine how many managers we need, I have a few from EE who have volunteered, although sometimes EE and UV mix about as well as oil and water.

I'd imagine the oil and water issues can be dropped in the spirit of helping new players. It's a common goal between both groups, and if petty issues couldn't be dropped for it -- we need to re-evaluate our associations. I foresee few problems
